The volume offers an in-depth scientific analysis and criminological, legal and geopolitical research of the transnational phenomenon on arms trafficking, retracing the regulatory defining aspects of the national code and jurisprudential law, the guidelines provided by the UNODC, OSCE, the reports of Europol, Interpol, DNA, FBI, SEESAC, and information and data collected by NATO and Small Arms Survey; verifying the harmonization of the main Treaties regarding weapons, their parts, components and ammunition on the international scene. Furthermore, the author examines in detail each type of weapon, the characteristics and the role played by shooters, analyzing the quantitative aspect of supply and demand in the black and gray market, the methods of entry into the illegal circuit, the points of deviation and the routes of exchange, barter and illicit acquisition of weapons. An original study that explores gun crime and the related homicide and suicide rates with new and innovative methodologies, examining the strategies promoted and implemented by restrictive and permissive policies in our country and overseas, examining phenomenological cases attributable to organized crime, including mafia-style, to terrorism, mass & school shootings; investigating the modus operandi, from acquisition, conversion, alteration, manufacturing, reactivation, to the illegal trade of weapons.
